silbern_dracheНикого не трогаю, перечитываю сказки Уайльда для будущего занятия со студентами.
И тут читаю: "по покалыванию ладони юная колдунья узнала о его приближении".
Следующие полминуты я тупо смотрю на текст, потому что же "by the pricking of my thumbs something wicked this way comes", угу.
И вот то ли чувствовать себя вумной, я опознала шекспировскую цитату сквозь перевод, и как Уайльд её изящно ввернул...
То ли тупой как пробка и безграмотной. потому что вот только сейчас опознала и сколько всего другого наверняка не?..

В английском "itchy palm" имеет свое идиоматическое значение. Ладонь у ведьмочки чешется к прибыли. Собственно, это и подчеркивается, когда она повторяет: "But it has a price, pretty boy, it has a price."
